HatHeadShot2015b“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” is an adage that has been plastered across numerous pages and inspirational posters for decades. I’ve always had an easy time taking the first step, my problem arises with those steps after I’ve taken the first. I become complacent, aggravated, and intimidated from the lack of the success I have envisioned.

Though I know it takes time, my impatience takes over. I want success to happen and believe it must happen now. When it doesn’t, I question my ability to succeed, my understanding of how to succeed, and even my reasons for trying to succeed. Although my heart is telling me I have more to offer the world, my pessimism demands I face reality and insists I’m a failure because my picture of success has not occurred.

This blog is another attempt to declare to the world I have something more to offer. It is my journey in becoming a writer. It is my journey of becoming. A journey of many steps, one in front of the other.

Many years ago a friend told me the destination is not important, but it is the journey to the destination that makes a life. Journeys through life are made of many steps. The first step is just a beginning. Afterward, the feet must stay active if the destination is to be reached. My feet must stay moving and through this blog I hope to keep stepping forward.
